Definition: Touch Bar
Apple's multitouch toolbar introduced on its 2016 line of MacBook Pro laptops. The Touch Bar was a unique addition to Apple's laptop that allowed applications to offer touch access to their most important functions. The Touch Bar was on the same horizontal plane as the keyboard.
No More Touch Bar in 2021
Due to the lack of developer support, the MacBook Pro laptops with M1 Pro and M1 Max processors dropped the Touch Bar and went back to regular function keys. See MacBook Pro, touchscreen and good user interface.

Very innovative, any Mac application could be made to display essential functions for the currently running process. Applications could change the touch keys for different modes.
