Definition: Tinder

An extremely popular dating application launched in 2012. Tinder users view images of theoretically compatible people by swiping right if they find their picture appealing or left to continue the search. Much of the data on Tinder comes from a user's Facebook profile. With a third of all users male and mostly under the age of 35, billions of matches have been made since Tinder's inception. Approximately 10% lead to matrimony. Available in more than 40 languages and used worldwide in nearly every country on the planet, both free and paid versions are available based on the number of "right swipes" users make.
