(3) (Threads) Meta's social network that is tightly integrated into Instagram. Launched in July 2023, Threads uses the Instagram user name and close friends list. The service is similar to X/Twitter with direct messages (DMs) and private groups; however, due to Instagram's huge subscriber base, Threads is expected to be major competition. With 100 million downloads in under a week, it became the fastest-growing app to date. However, one week after its launch, Threads daily traffic dropped in half. Time will tell. See
