The driver assistance system in Tesla electric vehicles. Although Autopilot does, in fact, drive the car under almost all conditions, it requires the driver to be attentive and able to take over immediately if required. Accidents have occurred because drivers fall asleep or do not pay attention.
Full Self-Driving (Supervised)
In 2020, Tesla launched Full Self-Driving (FSD) in beta to a limited number of customers. FSD was, of course, intended to be fully automatic driving. Tesla began releasing FSD to more Tesla owners until 2024, when it came out of beta but added "Supervised" to the FSD name. FSD (Supervised) means drivers are still expected to stay alert. See
