(iconectiv, Bridgewater, NJ) A telecommunications software, engineering and consulting organization. iconectiv was originally founded as Bellcore in 1984 by the regional Bell telephone companies (RBOCs) after they split from AT&T (see
Divestiture).
In 1997, Bellcore was acquired by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). With more than 35,000 employees, SAIC was the largest employee-owned, high-tech company in the country. As part of the acquisition, Bellcore changed its name to Telcordia. In 2011, Ericsson acquired Telcordia, which became iconectiv in 2013.
