A manufacturer of Linux-based computers that was founded in 2005 by Carl Richell and Erik Fetzer. Named after the freedom desired by the American Revolution and Declaration of Independence in 1776, in this case technology freedom, System76 makes and sells a complete line of machines, including desktops, laptops, towers, servers and mini models. Previously using an Ubuntu distribution, in 2017 System76 introduced its own Ubuntu variant entitled Pop OS (officially Pop!_OS). See
