Definition: Slingbox

A device from Sling Media, San Mateo, California that let people watch their own TV and video sources on all their computers and mobile devices. Introduced in 2002, the Slingbox transmitted the video source from a camera, set-top box or DVR to the Internet, and any computer or mobile device with the Slingbox software connected to the Internet could receive the redirected material. Slingbox also enabled users to watch TV over Apple TV, Roku and Chromecast. Slingbox was discontinued in 2022.
