Definition: Skylake

The 6th-generation microarchitecture in Intel's Core family of CPU chips, introduced in 2015. Superseding Broadwell, Skylake uses the same 14 nm transistor technology but supports both DDR4 and DDR3L (low-voltage DDR3) memory. Intel added its Software Guard Extensions (SGX) in various Skylake chips that encrypt regions of memory. See SGX and Intel microarchitectures.
