Definition: SK hynix


A memory and storage manufacturer in South Korea. Founded as Hyundai Electronics in 1983, it was rebranded Hynix Semiconductor in 2001. In 2012, SK Telecom acquired Hynix. With more than 45,000 employes, SK hynix is one of the largest chip manufacturers in the world.

Products include dynamic RAM, high bandwidth memory (HBM) and various NAND flash storage products including flash memory, eMMC and UFS. It also makes combination dynamic RAM and flash memory chips.
