Plan) A written document that outlines an organization's information technology objectives. Necessary for the efficient operation of IT, the plan details current systems and how future information systems will integrate in order to realize the organization's intentions and goals. See

(2) (
Satellite
ISP) An Internet service provider (ISP) that delivers service to customers via satellite. Employed in boats and very rural areas, satellite service operates the way DSL and cable does, except that the modem is wired to a dish antenna on the roof that is slightly larger than a satellite TV dish. The system relies on geostationary satellites in orbit some 22,000 miles above the earth. The earliest services were not very satisfactory for video calling (Skype, FaceTime) and multiplayer gaming; however, newer modems use buffering and acceleration techniques that have improved real-time transmission.
