Definition: ROM emulator

A circuit that helps debug a ROM chip by simulating the ROM in RAM (memory). The RAM circuit plugs into the ROM socket, and because RAM can be rewritten and ROM cannot, programming changes can be easily made and tested. See ROM and ROMable.
