Definition: QNED

(1) (Quantum Nano-Emitting Diode) A 4K or 8K LED TV from LG that combines quantum dots, NanoCells and MiniLED backlights with up to 2,500 independently controlled dimming zones to create greater depth in dark scenes. Introduced in 2024, LG's NanoCell technology adds a 1-nanometer layer of particles in the LCD panel that absorb "dirty" red and green wavelengths. QNED is less expensive and picture quality is nearly as good as OLED with no chance of burn-in because the screen is LCD (see LED TV and burn-in).

(2) (Quantum Nano-Electronic Device) A future transistor technology that uses nanowires and quantum tunneling. QNED is being researched by Samsung, LG and others.
