Definition: PXE


(Preboot EXecution Environment) An Intel Wired for Management (WfM) capability that enables a PC to boot from the server. Supported in the BIOS, PXE enables remote booting an operating system, remote booting a diagnostic program and remote booting an installation program to install an OS.
