Definition: PS4

(PlayStation 4) The previous video game console family from Sony introduced in November 2013. The PS4 migrated to standard 64-bit x86 processing and DDR SDRAM, relinquishing the Cell chip and XDR memory of the PlayStation 3. Along with a mobile app that allows a tablet or smartphone to serve as a second screen, Sony strongly emphasized social gaming due to its 2012 acquisition of the Gaikai cloud-based gaming service. The PS4 family includes a Blu-ray drive.

PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim
In 2016, the PlayStation 4 Pro offered 4K resolution and considerably faster GPU performance. In order to take advantage of the Pro, games have to be optimized. In the same year, the original PS4 was reduced to 60% of its original size and dubbed the PS4 Slim. The TOSLINK optical audio port was removed. See PlayStation and video game console.
