Published by Ziff Davis, PCMag was the first print magazine dedicated to the IBM PC. Launched in 1982 as PC Guide and renamed PC Magazine within a few months, it was a major supporter of the PC industry and very popular. The December 1983 issue had 800 pages. In 1994, the online version of the magazine debuted, and in 2022, the print version was discontinued.
PC Labs
PC Labs was created in 1986 as the product evaluation section for the magazine, and a physical testing department was created at PC Magazine headquarters in New York. PCs and peripherals were tested in PC Labs and the ratings were published using benchmarks exclusive to PC Magazine. See
