A 64-bit ARM-based CPU from Qualcomm that is the processor in its Snapdragon SoCs (systems-on-chip). Launched in 2022, the Oryon CPU was developed by Nuvia, which Qualcomm acquired in 2021. Qualcomm adopted the "X" brand for its Oryon CPUs; for example, the Snapdragon X Elite is the first system-on-chip (SoC) to use the Oryon CPU.
An Architectural License
Unlike other ARM CPUs which are licensed copies of the ARM CPU cores, such as ARM's Cortex, Qualcomm licensed the instruction set and designs its own processor. See
