Samsung's smartphone user interface starting with Version 9 of the Android OS (Android Pie). Released in beta at the end of 2018, One UI was geared to the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 at that time.
The One UI look and feel did not dramatically change from Android Version 8; however, there are differences. The icons were slightly changed, and the text notifications and settings are less squashed together. Instead of showing opened apps as a vertical tabbed list, the multitasking window in One UI displays the apps horizontally like the iPhone. Night mode flips the phone from a white to a black background, which can be switched on schedule. Optionally, swiping gestures replace the home, back and opened apps icons. Rather than the lock screen clock always on, it can display for 30 seconds with a tap. A scene optimizer automatically adjusts the colors in photos depending on the chosen scene. See
