Definition: OSD


(1) (On-Screen Display) An on-screen control panel for adjusting monitors, TVs and cameras. For monitors and TVs, the OSD is used to fine tune display characteristics such as contrast and brightness. For cameras, it is accessed to configure settings such as frame rate and resolution.

(2) (Open Software Description) An XML data vocabulary for describing a software package, module or component. OSD was designed to ease the distribution and updating of software via push technology.
