Definition: Newton eMate

In 1997, Apple offered the educational market a Newton-derived portable computer called the "eMate 300." Using an ARM processor, the eMate had a full-size keyboard that was housed in a case similar in design to the iBook laptop introduced two years later. See Newton and iBook.

Only a Year on the Market
With the addition of a keyboard, the eMate 300 was a laptop version of the MessagePad. It was on the market for only a year. (Image courtesy of Knutacollects on eBay.)
