Superseding SAP's earlier BASIS platform and launched with mySAP ERP 2005, this comprehensive set of software components, which is the technology foundation of SAP's flagship software, was re-engineered into a service-oriented architecture (SOA). In order to help developers understand the many component interrelationships, SAP redefined NetWeaver as a set of IT Practices, including "User Productivity Enablement" and "Data Unification."
