The 1st-generation microarchitecture in Intel's Core family of CPU chips, starting with the Core i7 in 2008. Major features of Nehalem chips (named after Nehalem, Oregon) are integrated memory and PCI Express controllers and a graphics processing unit (GPU) in the same chip package as the CPU. Nehalem began at 45 nm with subsequent dies manufactured with 32 nm features. Nehalem was superseded in 2011 by Sandy Bridge. See
