Definition: Nearable


A small Bluetooth device from Estimote, Inc. that transmits information to computers and smartphones. Nearables are a proximity beacon designed for security, tracking and marketing purposes. Introduced in 2014, a Nearable software development kit (SDK) is available for creating apps. See proximity beacon, IoT and smart object.




Pick It Up and Get Info
