A feature of iPhones that enables users to share contact information by placing both phones together. Introduced with iOS 17 and initially thought to be a personal information security risk because NameDrop is turned on by default and uses Apple's AirDrop wireless transfer, devices have to be almost touching to enable the transmission. Nevertheless, police and parent groups have urged caution for children because of this feature. See
