(NXP Semiconductors N.V., Eindhoven, Netherlands) A chip company founded in 2006 as a spinoff from Philips. NXP makes microcontrollers (MCUs) and systems-on-chip (SoCs) for industrial and automotive applications. A family of radar-based MCUs is also part of the product line (see
microcontroller).
NXP's R&D and design locations span the globe with fabs in Arizona, Texas, the Netherlands and Singapore. Along with Sony and Inside Secure, NXP developed NFC communications (see
NFC).
