Definition: NFC tags vs. QR codes

With an NFC-equipped smartphone, an NFC tag can be used like a QR barcode to retrieve a Web page or other information. However, instead of having to launch the QR app in the phone and frame the barcode to take its picture, users merely have to tap their smartphones on an NFC tag, which can, for example, be a sticker on the shelf of a retail store or embedded in a poster, indoors or out. See NFC, NFC tag and QR code.
