Definition: NAN

(1) (Neighborhood Awareness Networking) See Wi-Fi Aware.

(2) (NaN) (Not A Number) An undefined value, mostly occurring when a non-floating point number is computed by a floating point operation. For example, special characters are placed in the result field for a "quiet NaN," which the application can detect, or the floating point unit (FPU) can create a "signaling NaN" by causing an interrupt ("throwing an exception"). See floating point and math coprocessor.
