(2) (Medium) A social media publishing platform launched in 2012 that pays authors for its posts. Founded by Twitter co-founder Evan Williams, a paid Medium subscription offers Web and mobile users unlimited access to articles. The free Medium service is limited in number of articles every month.
Sometimes called a "social journalism" platform, Medium is aimed at the professional writer. It is also not restricted to article length as with the 280-character limitation on X/Twitter. Medium is more about supporting independent writers than other social media platforms. See
