Definition: MSX

A Z80 based personal computer introduced in 1983 in Japan. Using the MSX-DOS operating system, MSX was developed by Microsoft Japan and widely used for games in Japan and other countries, but not the U.S. Numerous Japanese companies made MSX machines throughout the 1980s, and there was a revival in interest for MSX software in the 2000s.
