Definition: MAPICS


(Manufacturing Accounting and Production Information Control System) A comprehensive and widely used ERP system from MAPICS, Inc., Alpharetta, GA, that includes more than 45 different software modules and runs on Windows clients and AS/400 servers. MAPICS was originally developed by IBM in 1978, purchased by Marcam Corporation in 1993, and spun off in 1997. In 2005, MAPICS was acquired by Infor and renamed Infor XA.
