Definition: Linksys


(1) The default name (SSID) assigned to new Linksys routers. See SSID.

(2) A network products company founded in 1988 by Janie and Victor Tsao. Products included hubs, network cards, access points and routers. The company was acquired by Cisco in 2003, which featured Linksys gear for the home, while providing a comprehensive line of wired and wireless routers for the enterprise. Cisco sold the Linksys brand to Belkin in 2013. See Linksys router.
