No GPUs or AI Accelerators
Due to U.S. export prohibitions on GPUs, China Cloud Computing signed an ARM Architecture License, not a Commercial License, which allowed them to modify the circuits. LineShine was built with some 40 thousand custom LX2 CPUs, totalling nearly 14 million processing cores. LX2 cores were given special registers that perform matrix math like a GPU (Scalable Matrix Extension), and the CPUs are packaged with high bandwidth memory (HBM) for the LineShine computer. See
