Definition: JXTA


(JuXTApose) Pronounced "jux-tah," JXTA was an open source protocol for peer-to-peer computing originally developed by Sun. Introduced in 2001, it enabled data to be shared between clients as well as servers on the Internet. Its capabilities included establishing a peer group, finding a peer, file sharing and remote monitoring. See RVP and peer-to-peer computing.
