Definition: Irma

An earlier trade name for a variety of host connectivity hardware and software products originally developed by Digital Communications Associates (DCA) and later acquired by Attachmate Corporation. Irma was not an acronym, rather it was a lady's name. Although the Irma line no longer exists, its technology was absorbed into many of Attachmate's subsequent terminal emulation products for mainframes and AS/400s. See IRMA board.
