Definition: HTML editor

A text editor specialized for writing HTML code. An HTML editor assists the HTML author by displaying tags and contents in colors so they pop out for easy reference, and fewer mistakes are made. It is also capable of catching simple syntax errors, but it is not a comprehensive debugging tool. An HTML editor is generally part of Web authoring software unless the authoring system is entirely drag and drop. See HTML tag, drag and drop and Web authoring software.
