Definition: HDMI matrix extender


An AV device that routes video sources to multiple displays via HDMI. Using Ethernet as the transmission medium, an HDMI matrix extender is both a switch and extender. The device may provide both HDMI and Ethernet outputs (see HDBaseT). See HDMI.
