The latest generation of virtual assistant from Google. Introduced in 2016, Assistant was designed to be more conversational and friendlier with more of a personality than Google Now. First available in Google Allo messaging, the Google Home device and Pixel phone, Google Assistant migrated to other Android devices and the Pixelbook (see
Chromebook Pixel). In order to custom tailor results, Assistant uses data from the user's Google history, including email and search.
"Hey" or "OK"
"Hey Google" and "OK Google" are the wake words that cause the virtual assistant to listen for a command or question. See
