MAIL) The largest free Web-based email service. As of 2025, there are 1.8 billion Gmail users worldwide. Supported by advertising similar to Google's Web search, Gmail was launched in 2004. Users are allowed a total of 15GB of storage, combined with Google Drive and Google Photos, allowing mail to reside on Google servers indefinitely for future reference. In 2006, Google's instant messaging was integrated into Gmail but was discontinued in 2015 (see
