MAIL) Google's very popular, free Web-based email service, which is supported by advertising similar to Google's Web search. Launched in 2004, there are more than a billion users today. Gmail offers 15GB of mailbox storage, allowing users to keep their mail on Google servers indefinitely for future reference. Gmail provides sophisticated searching of message content and keeps message threads for review. In 2006, Google's instant messaging was integrated into Gmail but was discontinued in 2015 (see
Google Talk).
Gmail is included in the subscriber-based Google Workspace service but without advertising. See
