Definition: GPMI

(General Purpose Media Interface) A universal interface for audio, video and data backed by major Chinese companies. Announced in 2025, GPMI supports 8K video, data transfer (192Gbps) and 480 watts of power. Extremely ambitious, GPMI is designed to replace HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet, 2.5 & 3.5mm audio connectors, even USB and Thunderbolt 5.

Type C and GPMI Type B.
Type C plugs and sockets are identical to the USB Type C and support 96 Gbps data transfer and 240 watts of power. To handle 192 Gbps and 480 watts, a proprietary "GPMI Type B" connector is required.
