An ITU standard for speech codecs that uses the ADPCM method to compress 64 Kbps PCM into 40, 32, 24 or 16 Kbps to accommodate the available network. G.727 is a specialized version of G.726 intended for packet-based systems using the Packetized Voice Protocol (PVP). See
