Definition: Big Five


The Big Five refers to the five largest and most influential tech companies in the U.S., which are Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon and Microsoft (GAFAM). The Big Four are Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon (GAFA). When entertainment is included in the list, the Big Five are Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google (FAANG).

Perhaps the Big Six?
In the 2020s, NVIDIA has become another powerhouse due to the explosion of artificial intelligence. However, although NVIDIA has made graphics cards for decades that individual gamers love, it has added huge companies to its customer list (actually the Big Four).
