Definition: Eye-Fi

An earlier wireless SD card from Eye-Fi, Inc., Mountain View, CA. Eye-Fi added Wi-Fi to a regular SD memory card and automatically transmited images from the card still inside the camera to the user's computer when in range of a selected Wi-Fi network. To configure the Eye-Fi card, a small reader that held the card plugged into a USB port, and the desired folders and networks were selected on the computer and recorded on the card. Images were stored in the computer or sent to an Eye-Fi photo sharing site. See SD card and Wi-Fi.
