Definition: Essbase


A leading decision support tool from Oracle that is optimized for business planning, analysis and management reporting. It provides an OLAP server that runs on Windows, AS/400 and major Unix platforms and supports Windows, Mac and Unix clients. Data can be extracted from a variety of databases, data warehouses and spreadsheets into Essbase applications. Spreadsheet plug-ins for Lotus 1-2-3 and Excel are available, and the Application Manager is a Windows-based program for building analytical models and providing system management and data loading. Essbase was originally from Hyperion, which Oracle acquired in 2007.
