Definition: MiCA
(Markets In Crypto Act) Crypto regulations passed in 2023 by the European Union. Covering token issuers, traders and the platforms themselves, MiCA also promotes transparency and requires disclosure of energy consumption for mining activities. The regulations hold providers accountable if investors lose assets due to hacking and other means besides normal price fluctuations. MiCA legislation took months of negotiation between the European Parliament, European Commission and European Council.
