Definition: ELF


(1) (Extremely Low Frequency) See frequency bands.

(2) (Executable and Linkable Format) A file format for Unix executable programs. Introduced with System V Release 4 (SVR4) in 1989, ELF is also the standard for running Unix programs on x86 machines. ELF32 and ELF64 are the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the format.
