Definition: EBT card

(Electronic Benefits Transfer card) A government payment card that is used like a debit card in all 50 states in the U.S. The EBT card enables electronic transfer of funds to retail establishments for programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
