Definition: Device Bay


An early peripheral format from Compaq, Intel and Microsoft that enabled disk and optical drives to be hot swapped without opening the case. Introduced in 1997, Device Bay drives connected via USB or FireWire in DB13, DB20 and DB32 form factors (13, 20 and 32mm heights). See hot swap, personal media drive, USB and FireWire.
