Definition: DOS Recover

An external DOS command prior to DOS 6 that read data on disks that were physically damaged. It read files a sector at a time recovering whatever data it could and put the recovered files into the root directory. You could recover an entire disk by specifying only the drive letter, but recovered files were renamed starting with FILE0001.REC.
