Definition: DOM implementation

Software that exposes the contents of an HTML, XML or XHTML document via a DOM programming interface (API) for a language such as JavaScript, VBScript, Java, Scheme or C++. Also called a "host implementation," a DOM implementation for JavaScript and VBScript is included in most Web browsers. See DOM application and DOM.
