Definition: DMV

(Dynamic Management View) A SQL enhancement that provides management information about the SQL Server database. Introduced with SQL 2005, numerous DMVs were added that could be used to tune server performance, diagnose problems and determine if the server's current indexing structure is capable of adequately responding to all required business queries.
