Tesla's pickup truck. Preordered in 2019 and three times delayed, the first customers received their Cybertrucks in late 2023.
Looking like a futuristic passenger vehicle more than a pickup truck, the Cybertruck is offered in single, dual and tri-motor models ranging from $60,000 to more than $100,000. The Cyberbeast top model has 845 horsepower and a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. Tesla's self-driving option is also available. Elon Musk has claimed the vehicle is sufficiently waterproof to briefly serve as a boat if the water is not choppy. For an electric pickup at the opposite end of the scale, see
Slate EV.
Although many Cybertruck owners love their vehicles, in 2025, demand dropped significantly, primarily due to an excessive number of problems and recalls as well as Elon Musk's political involvement in the federal government. The promised 500-mile range extender option was cancelled, and a widely touted $40,000 model never materialized. Unsold models have been transferred to SpaceX and Tesla headquarters as fleet vehicles.
You Can't Miss It
Unique to say the least, the Cybertruck stands out. It has an unpainted stainless-steel body that requires specific cleaning agents and prompt attention. Scratches may be costly to repair.
It Is a Truck
The Cybertruck's 6x4-foot bed can hold 2,500 pounds and easily handles 4x8 sheets of building materials. Its load and pulling capacity rival many gas pickups. (Image courtesy of Tesla Motors.)
